He married Janie Elizabeth Shields May 1913 in Attala Co, MS.

John Burkett Wood and Janie Elizabeth Shields had the following children:

189 ii. Thomas Lamar (Jack) Wood was born August 10, 1916.

190 iii. Leonard Pershing Wood was born July 25, 1919.

191 iv. Mary Lucille Wood was born November 5, 1922.

192 v. Ruby Carolyn Wood was born November 6, 1934. Ruby died 1936 in Attala Co, MS. Her body was interred at Rocky Point Cemetery in Attala Co, MS.
