Funeral services for Evelyn Horton Black, 78, were held on May 16, 2002 at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Bo Mills and Rev. Joyce Murphy officiating. Interment followed at Whitehall Memorial Cemetery.

Born on Nov. 4, 1924 in Noxapater, she was a homemaker and had lived in Mobile since 1941. She died on May 14, 2002 at her residence.

She is survived by a son, Frank Black of Lucedale; two sisters, Faye Love Horton of Louisville and Mary Nell Horton of Starkville; three brothers, Jim Horton, T.W. Horton, Jr., and Henry Dean Horton, all of Louisville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Whitehall Methodist Church Parsonage Fund.

Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Her body was interred at Whitehall Cemetery in Winston Co, MS.

She married Charles Francis Black Sr. February 5, 1944 in Mobile, Mobile Co, AL. Charles was born 1917. Charles died 1972. His body was interred at Whitehall Methodist Cemetery in Winston Co, MS.

Marion Evelyn Horton and Charles Francis Black Sr. had the following children:
