Eva died October 5, 2011 in Collinsville, Grayson Co., TX. OBIT: Eva L. Roller, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at the Homestead of Collinsville in Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel and graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel. Eva was born Feb. 15, 1923 in Laurel to the late Daniel A. and Ida (Jackson) Herring. She attended Laurel schools and married G.R. Lindsey in July 1940 in Laurel. In later years, she married Donald M. Roller of Purvis. Mrs. Roller worked as a secretary for Laurel Hoe Factory in Laurel. She also worked for Armstrong Tire and later she worked and retired from Sears in Natchez. Mrs. Roller was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Natchez. Eva was a member of the Business and Professional Women Association in Natchez. She actively participated in the pilgrimage and was a member of the Eastern Star. Eva was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She always enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and plants. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Roller is survived by her husband, Donald Roller of Hattiesburg; three daughters, Janice McCoy Segina of Clute ,Texas, Pam L. Montgomery of Angleton,Texas and Karen Lindsey of Collinsville, Texas; one son, Richard Lindsey of Woodstock, Ga.; six grandchildren, Brandon Montgomery, Lindsey Downs, Kayla Shumpert, David Shumpert and Charlotte Shumpert, all of Texas, and Cally Shumpert of Arizona; three great-grandchildren, Kasen Shumpert, Lily Wright and Courtland Downs, all of Texas; brother Dan Herring and wife Geneva of Ellisville; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, first husband G.R. Lindsey and a daughter, Angela Lindsey.
She married twice. She married George Reece Lindsey July 1940 in Laurel, Jones Co., MS. George was born March 26, 1919 in Jones Co., MS. George was the son of George Lindsey and Pauline (____). George died May 23, 2002. GEORGE REESE LINDSEY
George Reese Lindsey, 83, of Laurel, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Antioch Cemetery in Jones County. The Rev. Glen Freeman will officiate.
He was employed by Masonite Corp. from 1939 until 1944. He became a fireman at the old air base in Laurel until it closed. In 1948, he became a policeman in Laurel and relocated to Natchez in 1952. He retired in Natchez as a lieutenant in 1969. He was a member of Antioch Methodist Church in Jones County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. and Pauline Lindsey; one daughter, Angela Lindsey; one brother, A.V. Lindsey; and two sisters, Malinda Walters and Glinnes Burke.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Poore Lindsey of Laurel; three daughters, Janice McCoy of Laurel, Pamela Sue Montgomery of Comfort, Texas, and Karen Shumpert of Gordenville, Texas; one son, Richard Lindsey of Woodstock, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kayla Shumpert, Charlotte Shumpert, Kalley Shumpert and David Shumpert, all of Gordenville, Texas; two great-grandchildren; Brandon Montgomery and Lindsey Montgomery of Comfort, Texas; three brothers, C.E. Lindsey of Natchez, James B. Lindsey of Ray, Colo., and Doyle Lindsey of Moss; and one sister, Travie Lightsey of Bay Springs.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Lindsey, Rod Lindsey, Boots Walters, Jake Walters, William "Bill" Norton and Mark Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be Hub Wells and Richard Carr.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 .m. Saturday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
