He married Betty Leona Cochrane September 25, 1949. Betty was born September 3, 1931 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., IA. Betty was the daughter of Lewis Cochrane and Velma Merrick. Betty died Januay 5, 2015 in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ. OBIT: Betty L. (Cochrane) Allgood, 83, of Phoenix, AZ passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Loving Kind Care Home.
Betty Leona Allgood, daughter of Lewis and Velma (Merrick) Cochrane, was born September 3, 1931, and went to be with her heavenly father on January 5, 2015. She was a 1949 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and held a variety of jobs in the Oskaloosa area including: working for Oskaloosa Food Products, cleaning for Life Law Office and in home daycare. She and Don moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1966, where Betty was employed for many years in housekeeping at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix. Betty enjoyed roller skating, fishing, dancing and sewing. She loved spending time when her friends and family. In our hearts, Betty will truly be missed.
Her family includes her three sons: Mickeal (Dee), Donald and Ross Allgood, all of Phoenix, AZ; twelve grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Mary) Gregory of Anderson, MO; three sisters: Clara West of Chicago, Ill, Margaret (Bob) Gregory of Sierra Vista, AZ and Linda Hudson of Memphis, MO; five sister-in-laws: Phyllis (Harley) Yates, Joyce (Richard) Emanuel, Carmen Allgood, all of Oskaloosa, IA and Judy Allgood of Gowrie, IA and Phyllis Allgood of Grayslake, Ill; seven brothers-in-law: Billy Allgood, Ronald Allgood, Dennis (Marlene) Allgood, Les Cubit and Albert Bloodsworth, all of Oskaloosa, IA, Rex (Marge) Allgood of What Cheer and Stephen (Betty) Allgood of Eddyville, IA.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a son Frank Allgood; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Cubit and Betty Allgood and three brothers-in-law, Don, Jack and Larry Allgood.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lois Williams officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, January 19, at the funeral chapel; the family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice.
