He married Marguerite Mildred Rockhold April 14, 1931 in Carson City, Douglas Co., NV. Marguerite was born March 20, 1914 in Pleasanton, Decatur Co., IA. Marguerite was the daughter of James Oliver Rockhold and Venealia Cynthia Rockhold. Marguerite died April 13, 2002 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Obit: Marguerite Mildred Jones, 88, Stillwater, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor John Ware and Johnny Cawlfield officiating. Interment will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ripley under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
Following graveside services, lunch will be served for family and friends in the fellowship hall at Hillcrest.
Jones was born March 20, 1914, in Pleasanton, Iowa, to Oliver and Venealia Rockhold.
She married Lloyd Raymond Jones in Carson City, Nev., on April 14, 1931. He died Dec. 6, 1985.
Jones worked alongside her husband for many years, farming in the Bend Community south of the Dunkin Bridge.
She was an accomplished seamstress and loved nothing better than to go fishing on the Cimarron River.
After she and her husband retired from farming, they spent many pleasurable hours traveling out west with their travel trailer, hunting, fishing and visiting family.
She was a loving mother and adored grandmother whose greatest love was watching her great-grandchildren participate in various sporting events.
After 50 years of living in the Cushing and Ripley area, she moved to Stillwater in 1991 to be closer to her family.
She was predeceased by her husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorene Jones McGuire of Columbia, S.C., and Lois Jones Murray of Denton, Texas; four grandchildren, Rhonda Murray Johnson and husband Lynn and Terri Murray Watkins and husband Ray, all of Stillwater, Cathy McGuire Atkinson of Columbia, S.C., and Connie McGuire Brewery and husband Russell of Lexington, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren, Carrie Davis of Moore, Ashley Pineda, Brady Watkins and Brandy Watkins, all of Stillwater, Lindsey Pineda of Oklahoma City, Taylor Atkinson of Columbia, S.C., and Justin Lybrand and Josh Brewer, both of Lexington, S.C.; one great-great-grandchild, Jaden Tyler Renollet of Stillwater; one brother, Jack Rockhold and wife Betty of Powell, Wyo.; and one sister, Helen Dickerson of Washington, Iowa.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Wiggs, Arthur Webb, Alfred Stiles, Keith Ford, Rusty Shay and David Jafek. Honorary pallbearer is Earl Murray.
