Annamarie died June 1, 2005 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., IA. OBIT: Annamarie Evelyn (Malone) Wendt was born on March 1, 1930, north of Dow City, Iowa to parents, Reuben and Blanche (Hardy) Malone. She attended country school in the Dow City area. On May 31, 1946, she married Melvin M. Wendt. The couple lived near Charter Oak for a while then in Deloit and Dow City before settling in Woodbine in 1965. Anna worked at Rose Vista in the housekeeping department for 25 years. Anna was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. She liked the color blue, hummingbirds, flowers and collecting state plates. Anna died on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 75 years and three months. Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Hazel Volkmann, Lillian Wendt, twins Marlene and Merlene Malone; two brothers, Lloyd James and Hanse Malone; son, Roger Wendt in 1960. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melvin of Woodbine, Iowa; six children, Joleen and husband Robert Lueth of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Joyce and husband Sonny McFerrin of Modale, Iowa, Carolyn and husband Denny Baxter of David City, Neb., Evelyn Summerfield of Dunlap, Iowa and Randy Wendt and wife Robbie of Woodbine, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie and her husband Harlan Gustafson of Omaha, Neb., and Marcelene Vogt of Dow City, Iowa; brother, Earl Malone of Minnesota and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gordon Buchholz officiating. Musician was Sherry Ketelsen and vocalist EveVonne Muff sang "On the Wings of A Snow White Dove." Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." Interment was made at Dow City Cemetery in Dow City, Iowa. Pallbearers were Danny Baxter, Mark Baxter, Rex Baxter, Ricky Baxter, John Dunn, Mike Summerfield, Bill Wendt, Marlin Wendt, Randy Wendt Jr. Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
She married Melvin Merlin Wendt May 31, 1946 in Schaller, Sac Co., IA. Melvin was born February 27, 1926 in Crawford Co., IA. Melvin was the son of Martin Charlie Amel Wendt and Eva Margareta Ladehoff. Melvin died January 28, 2006 in Dunlap, Harrison Co., IA. OBIT: Melvin Merlin Wendt was born February 27, 1926, in Crawford County, Iowa to Martin and Eva Marie (Ladehoff) Wendt. He attended country school in the Charter Oak area. On May 31, 1946, he married Annamarie Evelyn Malone. The couple farmed near Charter Oak for a while then in Deloit and Dow City before settling in Woodbine in 1965. Melvin worked at Western Iowa Pork in Harlan, Blue Star Foods in Council Bluffs, Wilkensen's in Fort Calhoun, Stockard's Trailers in Dunlap, Hedstrom Concrete in Woodbine and he helped Bob Katzenberger and Bob Brock with farming. Melvin was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City. He loved to visit and he also enjoyed Farmall tractors and horses. Melvin died on Saturday, January 28, 2006, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 79 years, eleven months, and one day. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna on June 1, 2005; son Roger Wendt in 1960; and daughter, Joyce McFerrin on November 17, 2005. He is survived by his; four children, Joleen & husband Robert Lueth of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Carolyn & husband Denny Baxter of David City, Nebraska, Evelyn Summerfield of Dunlap, Iowa and Randy Wendt & wife Robbie of Woodbine, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Sonny McFerrin of Modale, Iowa; sister, Ornella Malone of Dunlap, Iowa; brother, Marvin Wendt of Arion, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
