John died October 7, 2010. OBIT: JOHN A. HOWARD, 92, of Calvert City, KY passed away at 6:30AM Thursday, October 7, 2010 at his residence.
John retired from the Kentucky Department of Highways as the manager of the toll plaza on the Purchase Parkway. He was of Primitive Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Chloe Riley Howard of Calvert City, KY; two sons, Joe A. Howard and his wife Jane of Calvert City, KY; and Don L. Howard and his wife Karen of Calvert City, KY; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Crowell of Calvert City, KY; one sister, Elizabeth Harrell of Benton, KY; six grandchildren, Barry Howard and his wife Tammy, Chip Howard, Shannon Howard, Drew Postel, Shawna Howard, and Scott Howard and his wife Shari; four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dwain Howard, one grandson, Sasha Howard; two brothers, Wendell Howard and Hoover Howard, and his parents, John Allie Howard and Verda Hoover Howard.
Services: Graveside services will be 2:00PM Friday, October 8, 2010 at Bethlehem Cemetery. Murray Riley will officiate and burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation: There will be no visitation.
He married Chloe Alene Riley. Chloe was born July 6, 1920 in Benton, Marshall Co., KY. Chloe was the daughter of Lex Galon Riley and Oma Perma Johnson. Chloe died December 21, 2014 in Calvert City, Marshall Co., KY. OBIT: Chloe R. Howard, 94, of Calvert City, passed away at 3:34 pm Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her home.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00PM Monday, December 22, 2014 at Bethlehem Cemetery. Murray Riley will officiate and burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
She retired from the Marshall County School System where she worked as a cook and a bus driver. She was a member of Sharpe Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Joe A. Howard and his wife Jane of Calvert City, KY and Don L. Howard and his wife Karen of Calvert City, KY; Daughter- in –law, Cindy Crowell of Calvert City, KY; six grandchildren, Barry Howard and his wife Tammy, Chip Howard, Shannon Howard, Drew Howard, Shawna Howard and Scott Howard and his wife Shari; four great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one sister, Joyce Walker of Palma, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Howard; one son, Dwain Howard; one grandson, Sasha Howard and three brothers, Lake Riley, Lex G. “Pat” Riley, Frank Riley and Lincoln Riley. Her parents were, Lex Riley and Oma Johnston Riley.
John Alton Howard and Chloe Alene Riley had the following children:
