Roy died February 8, 2011 in Owensboro, Daviess Co., KY. OBIT: Roy B. Nicely, 75, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born August 1, 1935 to the late Edna Lytle Kornell and A. Brown Nicely in Daviess County. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed being a pilot, was an avid outdoors man, enjoying golf and being with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. The majority of his working time was in the aerospace industry, as a design and engineering specialist, with a few years in the petroleum and natural gas drilling industry. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Phyllis Nicely of Owensboro; his daughter, Teri Nicely-Robbins and her husband, Greg Robbins of Highlands Ranch, CO; his grandson, Kyle Robbins; his step-father, Garland Tony Kornell of Owensboro, and half-brother, Randy Nicely of Evansville, IN. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the residence of Roy and Phyllis on Saturday, February 12, 2011, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
He married Phyllis Elaine Horth 1957. Phyllis was born March 26, 1924 in Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. Phyllis was the daughter of Floyd Morris Horth and Millicent E Rich. Phyllis died March 15, 2013 in Castle Rock, Douglas Co., CO.
