Shirley died July 29, 2000 in Roseburg, Douglas Co., OR. OBIT: SMITH, Shirley Eunice - Age 75, of Roseburg passed away Wednesday July 19, 2000 in a local hospital. She was born November 27, 1924 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Grover A. and Barbara J. (McMillan) Craft. The Craft's moved from Indiana to Roseburg in 1928. She grew up attending the Melrose Community Church. On July 23, 1946 in Roseburg she married James C. Smith who preceded her in death on September 29, 1992. Mrs. Smith worked for many years as a clerk for the Winston-Dillard Water District. She enjoyed crocheting, camping and loving her grandkids. Survivors include her daughter Barbara R. Smith of Roseburg; sons Stephen A. Smith and his wife Helen of Sutherlin, Donald J. Smith and his wife Kathy of Roseburg and Robert D. Smith of Myrtle Creek; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held Monday July 24, 2000 at 1:00 pm within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Wally Gwaltney will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Mrs. Smith's memory to the American Heart Association and these may be left at LONG & SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL who is in charge of arrangements.
She married James C. Smith July 23, 1946 in Roseburg, Douglas Co., OR. James died September 29, 1992 in Roseburg, Douglas Co., OR.
