Elton died October 5, 2008 in Denison, Crawford Co, IA. OBIT: Elton Harold Hardy was born March 16, 1940, to Harold and Anna (Park) Hardy in Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised in the Dunlap area. Elton married Shirley Vaughn on August 3, 1960, in Denison, Iowa. He worked at IBP in Denison. The couple moved to Woodbine and he worked for John Jensen operating heavy construction equipment, at Brown Manufacturing for a while and owned a gravel truck. He also worked at Kelly Ryan in Blair, Nebraska, and he farmed for Ray and Burlette Lyman. Elton married Debbie Martin on July 21, 1989, in Denison. Before returning to Dunlap they lived in Marshalltown for two years. Elton enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed hunting mushrooms, and mechanic work. Elton died Sunday, October 5, 2008, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, in Denison, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 19 days. Elton was preceded in death by his father; brother, Darrell; niece, Brenda Hardy; two nephews, Jeff and Michael; step daughter, Amy Weber; and grandson, Tyler Weber. He is survived by his wife Debbie of Dunlap, IA; son Joey (Stacy) Hardy of Woodbine, IA; four daughters Cindy (Tom) Eccleston of Omaha, NE, Kelly (Kenneth) Knight of Glenwood, IA, Amy Grandmont and Alicia Hardy both of Missouri Valley, IA; seventeen grandchildren; one great granddaughter; mother, Anna Mills of Woodbine, IA; five brothers, Arnold Hardy of Moorhead, IA, Wayne (Connie) Hardy and Larry (Peggy) Hardy all of Woodbine, IA, Robbie (Lorraine) Hardy of Farmington, MO and Denny (Cheryl) Hardy of Woodbine, IA. He is also survived by three step children, Lisa (Mike) Dieter of Denison, IA, Melissa Meisel of Cheyenne, WY, Michael (Sue) Sandbothe of Olathe, KS; three step grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.
He married twice. He married Debbie Martin Jujly 21, 1989 in Denison, Crawford Co, IA.
