1921. Lewis died February 22. 2007 in Osage Beach, MO. Obit: Lewis L. "Lefty" David, 85, of Lake Ozark, formerly of
Hannibal, died at 8:59 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday,
Feb. 26 at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Reverend Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial with full military rites by Emmette
J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Visitation will be from noon until time of services
Monday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home. Mr. David was born July 23, 1921, in New Canton, Ill., to Lewis and Blanche
Blacketter David. He married Esther L. Dinga on Dec. 24, 1948, in Hannibal. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1992. Mr.
David was a firefighter of the city of Hannibal for more than 40 years, retiring in 1983. He also worked part time as an electrician.
Mr. David was a member of the American Legion Post No. 55 of Hannibal for more than 50 years. He enjoyed watching sports and was
especially a big fan of Lady Volunteers basketball at the University of Tennessee. He also enjoyed gardening and playing bingo.
Mr. David was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having earned four bronze stars serving in four different theaters. Mr. David
was a Christian by faith. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Hobbs and husband Kenny of Lake Ozark, and Susie Rendlen and
husband Judge Charles "Sketch" Rendlen of St. Louis; one stepdaughter, Nancy Walterscheid and husband Dr. John Walterscheid of Hannibal;
grandchildren Kelly Dinwiddie and husband David of Columbia, Lindsey Rendlen-Patton and husband Chris of Columbia; Faye Coughennower of
Kansas City and Jon Walterscheid of Hannibal; great-grandchildren, Clair, Cole and Carson Dinwiddie and Erin and Lauren Coughennower; and
several nieces and nephews. Mr. David was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Legion Post No. 55 or Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, in care of James O’Donnell Funeral
Home. Pallbearers will be David Dinwiddie, Chris Patton, Larry David, Danny David, Roy Hark, and Ron David. Honorary
pallbearers will be Marion Parker and Delmar McClain.
He married Esther L. Dinga December 24, 1948 in Hannibal, Marion Co, MO. Esther died April
27, 1992.
