George died December 7, 2003 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: George McDuffie, 54, died late Wednesday night in Cobb Memorial Hospital after an illness of two weeks. Mr. McDuffie was a son of the late Edgar and Gertrude Sewell McDuffie and a life-long resident of the New Bethel Community. He was a retired teacher and farmer, a World War II veteran and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors: widow, Mrs. Eunice Whitfield McDuffie; a daughter, Mrs. Ted Singleton of Hartwell; two brothers, Newell McDuffie of Carnesville and Atlanta and Leland McDuffie of Carnesville; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Baumann of Ft. Myers, Fla., Mrs. Guinn Cronic of Lula, and Mrs. Ed Williams of August; one grandchild. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Alton Ray and Charles Ivie officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Larry Whitfield, Fredericks Payne, David Cronic, Moody McDuffie, Gerald McDuffie and Jimmy Randall.

He married Eunice Whitfield. Eunice was born May 3,1915 in Franklin Co., GA. Eunice was the daughter of John Elbert Shitfield and Lula Frances Martin. Eunice died January 8,1973 in Fannin Co., GA. OBIT: Mrs. Eunice Whitfield McDuffie, 57, of Rt. 3, Carnesville, died Monday in Stephens County Hospital after a serious illness of two days. Mrs. McDuffie was a daughter of the late John Elbert and Lula Martin Whitfield. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County, and was a member of the member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She was also a member of the WMS of the church. Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Ed Singleton of Hartwell; two brothers, H. O. Whitfield of Canon and Odis Whitfield of Toccoa; four sisters, Mrs. Fletcher Purcell of Carnesville, Mrs. James F. McAlister, Mrs. W. E. Randall and Mrs. James Edens, all of Greenville, S.C. Her husband, George E. McDuffie, died in June of 1971. Funeral services were held Wednesday at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Alton Ray officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery
