Elsielee died August 26, 2000 in Fort Madison, Lee Co., IA. OBIT: Elsielee VanPelt, 75, of Fort Madison, formerly of Montrose, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the Rev. Earl Beal officiating. Burial will be in the Sandusky Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. VanPelt was born Aug. 19, 1925 in Fort Madison, the daughter of Elmer and Ical Marsh Helmick. She married Glen C. VanPelt on Feb. 18, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo. She was a member of Joy Baptist Church in Fort Madison and of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include one son, Glen VanPelt, Jr., of Montrose and formerly of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Sandra Gathers of Ft. Madison and Debbie Kenel of West Point; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Ricky in infancy; two brothers, Wayne and Charles Helmick; and one sister, Luella Dart.
She married Glen Clifford VanPelt February 18,1943 in Kahoka, MO. Glen was born February 13, 1925 in Keokuk, Lee. Glen was the son of C E Vanpelt and Pearl Vanausdall. Glen died March 1984 in Montrose, Lee Co., IA.
