He married Mayme Estella Medley July 4, 1901 in Auburn, Nebraska Co., NE. Mayme was born June 1883 in NE. Mayme was the daughter of Martin Riley Medley and Mary (Maddie) R Lefthand. Mayme died in NE.

John Martin Setzer and Mayme Estella Medley had the following children:

 2697 ii. Cecil Deam Setzer was born 1905.
