Gunter, age 78, of Alpharetta died December 22, 2008. Born January 18, 1930 in Alpharetta, Old Milton County to the late Simpson Dewey and Hattie Rayner Gunter. He was an Army veteran, retired from Avon Co. and was a member of the Alpharetta First Baptist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Atkins Gunter; sister, Lillian Doris Gunter and brother, Louie Carroll Gunter. He is survived by his step-son, Ronald White Gunter; sisters, Betty Thompson and her husband Robert of Cumming, Frances Smith and her husband John; brothers, Charles David Gunter and Floyd Allen Gunter and his wife Kate; aunt, Eva Gunter Allen all of Alpharetta; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Carl Jameson officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Alpharetta First Baptist Church or the Baptist Children's Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, He married Allie Atkins.
