Charlie died May 13, 2011 in Epsom, Franklin Co., NC. OBIT: Charlie Carr Greenway, 63, of 8304 N.C. Highway 39 South, Henderson, N.C., in the Epsom Community, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, May 13, 2011, with his family by his side. Born March 9, 1948, in Granville County, he was the son of the late John Alford Greenway and Ruby Milton Greenway.

Mr. Greenway grew up in Granville County with his siblings on a tobacco farm and was not afraid of hard work. For many years, he was an employee of Asplundh Tree Service and Wilson Tree Service. In 1994 he stepped out on faith (Philipians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me”) and started his own business, Greenway’s Professional Tree Service. He was well known and enjoyed working with the public.

Charlie enjoyed the peace and beauty of God’s creations, especially the ocean at Emerald Isle, where he took many trips with his grandchildren and other family, to share quality time with the ones he loved.

A member of Living Stones Church of God and active in Men’s Ministries, he loved his church and the fellowship. He was well known for cooking barbecue and chicken at many events.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2011, at 2 p.m., at Living Stones Church of God, conducted by Pastor Milton Abbott. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Elizabeth King Greenway; two beautiful daughters, Tammy G. O’Neal, and husband Scott, of Epsom and April Greenway, of Warrenton, N.C.; two precious grandchildren, Zack Tharrington and Jessica Tharrington; three sisters, Betty G. Lloyd, of Leasburg, N.C., Beatrice G. Wrenn, of Oxford, N.C., and Elsie G. Taylor, of South Hill, Va.; and four brothers, E. Otis Greenway, Thomas E. Greenway, and Cordell H. Greenway, all of Oxford, N.C., and James E. Greenway, of Texas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Greenway; and two special friends, Melvin Wayne Williamson and Henry Ayscue.

The family will receive friends Sunday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 8304 N.C. Highway 39 South, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Donald Pendergrass, Lynn Campbell, John Campbell, Wally Moquin, Scottie Williamson, Andy Roberson, Johnnie Russell, Buster Hicks, and James Faines.

He married Elizabeth King 1969.

Charlie Carr Greenway and Elizabeth King had the following children:
