Carl Donner Joe10 King (Joseph Joe9, John W.8, Rebecca Caroline (Callie)7 Peeler, Sarah Jane6 Allgood, John5, Ishmael4, Edward3, William2, Edward1 Algood) was born in McMinn Co, TN April 18, 1941. Carl died August 9, 2011 in Cleveland, Bradley Co., TN. OBIT: Carl Joe King, 70, of Riceville, died Tuesday night, Aug. 9, 2011, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Joe and Ruby Jones King, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlos and Ronnie King; and one sister, Bernice Leamon.
He retired from Laborers Local 846 in Chattanooga after 33 years of service, having served as secretary and treasurer for the past 25 years. He was a member of Thomas A. Hamilton Lodge 317 in Riceville, Scottish Rites and the Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was a member of Sanford Baptist Church in Riceville.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Veronica Womac King of Riceville; one daughter, Quennia Calhoun of Riceville; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl Joe Jr. and Janice King of Riceville; four grandchildren, Casey and Jesse Calhoun and Dakota and Cheyenne King; one sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Jim Wright of Riceville; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Garry and Shirley King and Larry King, all of Riceville; two sisters-in-law, Peggy King of Athens, and Faye King of Riceville; one brother-in-law, Roy Leamon of Riceville; and a very special breakfast buddy, June Greene of Riceville.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday at Sanford Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Teague, the Rev. Floyd Boggess and the Rev. Garry King officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
