Charles died May 10, 2012 in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX. OBIT: Charles Ray Farmer, 83, of Fort Worth passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to the St. Vincent dePaul Society.
Charlie was born in 1928 in Graham. The family migrated to Weatherford and eventually Fort Worth around the time Charlie entered high school. After graduating, he went to work for the U.S. Post Office. He left to enter the U.S. Army and spent two years stationed in Germany, before pursuing a brief career as a professional bowler. He returned to the post office and worked there for 45 years, but always kept a hand in bowling. Between tournaments and leagues, Charlie bowled an amazing total of 13 sanctioned 300 games, an 800 series, and was inducted into the Texas State Bowling Hall of Fame in 1990. Charlie was a loving husband and father, and was always delighted to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was a devoted Texas Rangers fan and never missed tuning in to watch their games. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bette Males Farmer; father, Jesse Carrol Farmer; stepmother, Althea Farmer; and brother, Bill Farmer.
Survivors: Wife, Jimmie Joyce Farmer; sister, Nina McErlean of Granite Shoals; children, Faron Farmer and wife, Lisa, of Crowley and Tracy DeBolt and husband, Chuck, of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
