Janice died March 5, 2011 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie Co., VA. OBIT: Janice Carol Emory Mayer, age, 58, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away on Saturday, March, 5, 2011. She was born in Petersburg, VA, the daughter of the late James S. Emory. Ms. Mayer was also preceded in death by a sister, Becky Whelan, and a niece, Rachel Brown. She dedicated her life for over 20 years to caring for people as an LPN. She loved playing bingo, fishing, and spending time with her grandson Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband, Andrew; mother, Marie Brown; step-father, Pete Brown; brothers, David Brown and wife, Kathryn â??Candyâ?, and Ray Emory; sisters, Patricia Bentley and Tammy Emory; grandson, Richard Harris, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Judy Coleman, Linda Ford, and Kim Ferguson . The family will receive friends at the Petersburg chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home on Thursday, March 10, at 11 a.m. with interment afterwards in the Southlawn Memorial Park.
