OBIT: Burrel James Glasscox, 88, of Commerce, Okla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Eastwood Manor in Commerce. Mr.
Glasscox was born Feb. 27, 1923, to Ewell and Edith M. (Dingman) Glasscox in Douthat, Okla. He married Avonell Hufft on Sept.
14, 1957, in Commerce. Mr. Glasscox was a member of the V.F.W., United Rubber workers local 318 and was a senior companion for
Ottawa County in which he received many awards. He was a PFC in the United States Army during World War II where he served as a
military policeman in England and Germany. He preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jerri Ann Glasscox; one brother,
Gareld Glasscox; and two sisters, Treva Wright and Velma Glasscox. Survivors include wife, Avonell, of the home; two sons, David
Lee Glasscox, of Midland, Texas, and James Randall Glasscox, of Wyoming; one daughter, Billie Sue Stamps and husband, Ricky, of Commerce;
three grandchildren, Jacob and wife, Jamie Hudspeth, of Miami, Okla., Jordan Hudspeth, of Joplin, Mo., and Jennifer Glasscox, of Miami;, and
one great-grandchild, Jack Tyler Hudspeth, of Miami. Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Sept. 12, at the G.A.R.
Cemetery with Rev. Roger Brown officiating. Interment will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery. Military honors will presented by the American Legion
Funeral Detail post 147. Pallbearers will be Vincent Price, Jacob Hudspeth, Jordan Hudspeth, Robert Mills, Andy Arms and Chad Allred.
Professional services under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9 to
10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the Paul Thomas Funeral Chapel In Miami.
