Bonita died June 2, 1998 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg Co., SC. Obit: Bonita L. Jenkins Bonita Faith Jenkins of 210 Arrowhead Circle died June 2, 1998, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Flora, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Rev. William E. and Lelia Misenheimer Lamp. She graduated magna cum laude from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., and taught high school English at Dahlgren, Ill. She was a member of the Spartanburg Tuesday Reading and Garden Club, having served as secretary-treasurer. She was a life-time member of United Methodist Women organizations in Bethel and Downers Grove, Ill. The Thursday Morning Bethel Bible Study Class was renamed the Bonita Jenkins Bible Study Class in honor and recognition of her 13th year as teacher. She also shared her teaching abilities with the Adult Sunday School Classes at Bethel. She was vice president of Bethel's United Methodist Women. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Farrell D. Jenkins, pastor emeritus of Bethel United Methodist Church of Spartanburg; three sons, Donnell Jenkins of Galena, Ill., Gary Jenkins of Vaudalia, Ill., and John Wesley Jenkins of Chicago, all ordained United Methodist ministers; a sister, Esther Funkhouser of O'Fallon, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. today in Bethel United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall. Services will follow at 11 a.m. in the church, conducted by the Rev. Daniel A. Morrison Jr., Dr. Charles A. Graves and Dr. Clyde R. Funkhouser. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church of the U.M. Committee On Relief, 245 S. Church St., Spartanburg, 29306. Floyd's North Church Street is in charge of the arrangements.

She married Farrell D. Jenkins April 1, 1932. Farrell was born October 20, 1913. Farrell died July 10, 2001 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg Co., SC. Obit: REV. DR. FARRELL D. JENKINS The Rev. Dr. Farrell D. Jenkins of 210 Arrowhead Circle, Spartanburg, SC, died July 10, 2001 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Dahlgren, Illinois, he was the son of the late Herbert R. and Laura Meadows Jenkins. He was Minister of Outreach at Bethel United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, SC from 1976 to 1986 and since 1986 has been Pastor Emeritus at Bethel. Previously, he was Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church, Downers Grove, Illinois for thirteen years. The church in this surburban community was preceded by Pastorates in Waukegan, Centralia, Salem, and E. St. Louis, Illinois. Dr. Jenkins had been a delegate to three General Conferences of the United Methodist Church and to four Jurisdictional Conferences. He also served as a member of the General Board of Church and Society after United Methodist denomination. For twenty years, he served as the Executive Secretary of Evangelism in Illinois. During this time, he authored several books on Envangelism. Since coming to Spartanburg, his community outreach activities have included Presidency of the Interdenominational Shepherd's Center. He has also served on the Spartanburg County Council on Aging, the Community Concerts Association and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has taught continuing education courses at the University of South Carolina, Spartanburg. He has been chairperson of the graduate committee and religious life committee at his alma mater, McKendree College, Lebanon, Illinois, where he was on the Board of Trustees of the college for ten years. His academic work was at McKendree College and at Garrett Theological Seminary, Evanston, Ill. He also received his Masters Degree in Christian Education from Fuller Theological Seminary. Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY conferred upon him his Doctor of Divinity Degree for his work in the field of Evangelism. He was first married to the late Bonita Lamp Jenkins. He is survived by his wife, Rev. Jane Driver Jenkins of the home; three sons, Donnell D. Jenkins of Galena, IL, Gary D. Jenkins of Vandalia, IL and John Wesley Jenkins of Chicago, IL all of whom are ordained ministers in the United Methodist Church; two step-children, Michael Hall and Diana Hall both of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Dr. Vergene Colloms of Spartanburg and a niece, Beverly C. Patterson of Spartanburg. The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45am, Friday, July 13, 2001 in the fellowship hall of Bethel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am, Friday, in the church conducted by The Rev. Lawrence F. Hays, Jr., The Rev. Daniel A Morrison, Jr., and The Rev. J. Taylor Campbell.
