Bricker, 77, of Flora, formerly of Clay City died Monday, September 13, 2004 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 17, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City with interment at the Clay City Cemetery in Clay City.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, 2004 from 1-3 p.m. at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City.
Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers. The family would also like memorials to be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Bricker was born September 5, 1927, daughter of Clayson A. McDowell and Nella Grace (Luke) McDowell. She married Carl L. Gray October, 17, 1945. He preceded her in death June 13, 1953. Her second marriage was to Ralph O. Bricker on December, 11, 1954. He preceded her in death February 23, 1987.
Mrs. Bricker was a retired nurses aide. She was also a member of the Flora Eagles Lodge.
Mrs. Bricker is survived by her son Carl Wayne Gray and wife Karin of Aurora, CO; daughter Patricia Bright and husband Eber of Cisne, son-in-law Butch Harris of Paris; step daughter's Vivian Simpson and husband Wayne, and Dorine Pearcy; brothers Glen McDowell, and Ronald McDowell and wife Wanda of Flora; sisters Barb House of Olney, Nella Dilly and husband Woody of Olney, Kay Lomas of Olney, Leona Disandro of Olney, and Betty Lemons and husband Charlie of Clay City; brother-in-law Robert Gray and wife Phyllis of Olney; sisters-in-law Leona Taylor of Clay City, Ruth Osborne and husband Junior of Springfield, MO, and Betty Gray; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Martha Harris, brother Adrian, sisters JoAnne McDowell and Hazel Clark, step-daughter Lavera Hipes, brother-in-law Billie Joe Gray, and step-grandson Jason Hipes.
She married twice. She married Carl Lester Gray October 17, 1945 in Louisville, Clay Co., IL. Carl was born May 16, 1921 in Mt. Erie, Wayne Co., IL. Carl was the son of John Jasper Gray and Mary Elsie Mitchell. Carl died June 13, 1953 in Clay City, Clay Co., IL. Carl was buried in the Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois
She married Ralph Orville Bricker Novembe 11, 1954 in Louisville, Clay Co., IL. Ralph was born November 7, 1905 in Oak Bluff Township, Arkansas. Ralph was the son of George Washington Bricker and Frances Katherine Frock. Ralph died February 23, 1987 in Clay City, Clay Co., IL. Obit: Clay City - Ralph O. Bricker, 61, of Clay City died 6 a. m. Monday (Feb. 23, 1987) in his home. Services will be 2 p. m. Thursday in Hoseselton, Bookhout & Englemeier Funeral Home, Clay City, with visitation 6 to 9 p. m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery. Mr. Brickker was born in Arkansas, son of George and Francis Bricker. He was a retired oil field worker and a member of the Flora Mose andEagles Lodge. He married Dorothy McDowell in 1954. Surviving are his wife; son, Wayne Gray of Ludwigburg, Germany; daughters, Vivian Simpson of Fritch, Texas; Mrs. Grover (Dovine) Pearcy of Westfield. Mrs Walter (Martha) Harris of Paris; Mrs Elber (Pat) Bright of Cisne; sisters, Rose Moss of Fredericktown, Mo; Gladys Taylor of St Louis, Mo; brother Walter of Blackwood, N. J. ; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. One daugher, four brothers and three sisters preceded him death.
