John died February 15, 2003 in Flora, Clay Co., IL. Obit: John W. Luke, 88, of Clay City, died at 8:20 a. m. Saturday February 15, 2003, at Flora Pvaillion, Flora. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m., Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City., Rev Brad Harris will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, IL Visitation will be held at 6-8 p. m. Monday, February 17, 2003, at the funeral home. Mr. Luke was born January 11, 1915 in Clay County to John Albert Luke and Nellie (Graham) Luke. He married Grace I. McDowell on July 9, 1942 in St Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on December 7, 1983. Mr Luke was retired from working in the oil field. He was a United States Army veteran. Survivors include three sons, John Robert Luke and wife, Donna, of Olney, Donald Luke of Olney and Thomas Luke of Clay City, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, and six sisters.

He married Grace Iene McDowell July 9, 1941 in St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO. Grace was born June 17, 1921 in Clay Co., IL. Grace was the daughter of Elbert G. McDowell and Martha Ellen Sheets. Grace died December 7, 1983 in Flora, Clay Co., IL. Grace was buried in the Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois
