He married Margaret Joyce Hutchens. Margaret was born October 15, 1925 in Yadkin Co., NC. Margaret was the daughter of Harrison Windsor Hutchins and Vercie (Versie) Jane Allgood. Margaret died May 12, 2014 in Yadkinville, Yadkin Co., NC. OBIT: Joyce Hutchens Dinkins Oct. 15, 1925-May 12, 2014 Mrs. Joyce Hutchens Dinkins, 88, of Shacktown Road passed away peacefully Monday, May 12, 2014 at the home of her daughter. She was born October 15, 1925 in Yadkin County to the late Harrison and Vercie Allgood Hutchens. Mrs. Dinkins was retired from Yadkin County Social Services and was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Mrs. Dinkins enjoyed the time she spent cooking for others, especially making her coconut pies, and loved making sure that everyone had something to eat before they left. Her family and especially her granddaughters were the joy of her life. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Dinkins, on November 16, 2013; and by her sisters and brothers, Ruth Hutchens, Gladys Hutchens, Gilbert Hutchens, Wallace Hutchens, Lillian Hutchens, and Herbert Hutchens. Surviving are her loving daughter, Carol Hamel and husband, Pierre of Yadkinville; granddaughters, Michelle O'Keefe, and husband, Sean of Pittsburgh, PA, Jessica Stevens, Winston-Salem, Katy Hamel, Yadkinville; her sister, Betty Sue Thompson of Rocky Mount, NC; and the several families of her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including the families of her brothers-in-law, Harold Dinkins, Wayne Dinkins, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Allen. A Service of Celebration for the Life of Mrs. Dinkins will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Maplewood Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Lancaster
