Louis died February 11, 2004 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, LA. OBIT: Services for Louis W. Smith of Marrero, La., formerly of Brookhaven, are 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burial in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 72, died Feb. 11, 2004, in New Orleans, La. He was born in Lincoln County on May 17, 1931, to Earl Smith and Lillie Laird. He was a retired oil field worker.

Preceding him in death were her parents. Survivors are his wife, Mildred Smith; his daughter, Klyndia Smith of Irving, Texas; her son, Gary Smith of Harvey, La.; her sisters, Pauline Falvey of Brookhaven, Yvonne Cothern of Natchez, and Marjorie Haney of Crosby; his brother, Curtis Smith of Natchez; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren

Louis Wayne Smith and Mildred Nix had the following children:
