He married Laura Naimo Strait December 24, 1931. Laura was born March 6, 1906. Laura was the daughter of George Lusk Strait and Allie Cordelia Goldbold. Laura died November 13,1991.

Claude Bennett Smith and Laura Naimo Strait had the following children:

 25175 ii. Richard Kerry Smith was born in Lincoln Co, MS April 15,1942. Richard died September 28,2018 in Modesto, Stanislaus co., CA.
