Hoyte died January 22, 2015 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT" Hoyt E. Case, 97, of Wesson, MS passed from this life on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, MS. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The graveside service will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tim McCaffrey and Bro. Talmadge Smith will be officiating the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers are Lance Case, Shane Easterling, Jeffrey Case, Justin Spencer, Jeffrey Nail and Ralph Smith.
Mr. Case was born March 23, 1917 in Brookhaven, MS to John Marshall and Lela Carpenter Case. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served many years as a faithful deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked for 35 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He was a loving, gentle man who was always looking out for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Marshall and Lela Carpenter Case; wife, Myrtle Smith Case; and sisters, Elaine Smith, Geroline Fulton and Myrtis Smith.
Survivors are his wife, Eunice L. Case of Wesson, MS; sons, Erik Case and wife Debby of Brandon, MS, Phillip Case and wife Judy of Wesson, MS, Ronald Nail and wife Nancy of Ashville, AL, and Gary Nail and wife Robyn of Columbia, TN; sister, Murlyn Smith of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Jessica Green and husband Jarrod of Brandon, MS, Jeffrey Case of Madison, MS, Lance Case and wife Tanya of Byram,MS, Leigh Easterling and husband Shane of Wesson, MS, Anabel Spencer and husband Justin of Sumrall, MS and husband Monte of Calera, AL, Jeffrey Nail and wife Katrina of Moody, AL, Megan Jones and husband Jason of Culman, AL and Kenzy and Kasey Nail of Columbia, TN; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He married twice. He married Myrtle Smith January 7, 1946 in Lincoln Co., MS. Myrtle was born July 23, 1919 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Myrtle was the daughter of Everett Monroe Smith and Mary Malonia (Lonie) Montgomery. Myrtle died May 20, 1989 in Wesson, Copiah Co, MS. Myrtle was buried in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.
