Roscoe died September 10, 2011 in Tylertown, Walthall Co., MS. OBIT: Funeral services for Roscoe P. Newton, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Newton, 95, died Sept. 8, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Tylertown. He was born in Mississippi on Dec. 16, 1915, to Elias and Ruth Allgood Newton.

He was retired from Oil Exploration as field supervisor. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wives, Clara Golman Newton and Myrtle Newton; his brothers, Richard Newton, Marshall Newton and Robert Newton; and his sisters, Kathleen Driskell, Nora Bell West, Ella Sandidge and Elsie Bowman.

Survivors are his daughters, Betty Morgan, of Smithdale, Susan Parker and Melissa Reed; his son, Pat Reed; his brothers, Sherman Newton, of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, Doug Taylor, Robin Stewart, Lane Reed, Chad Reed, Carmen Maglievaz, Staci Blake, Jennifer Broomfield and Abby Martinez; and his 12 great-grandchildren.

He married twice. He married Clara Golman. Clara was born May 14, 1916. Clara was the daughter of Thomas Hiram Golmon and Edna Arnold. Clara died June 30, 1974. Clara was buried in Easthaven Cemetery, Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS.

He married Myrtle Golman. Myrtle was born May 2, 1920 in Eddiceton, MS. Myrtle was the daughter of John Clarence Golman and Myrtle Melissa (___). Myrtle died January 10, 2006 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Myrtle G. Reed Newton, 85, of Brookhaven, died Jan. 10, 2006, at her residence. Visitation is 5 to 7 tonight at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven. Mrs. Newton was born May 2, 1920, in Eddiceton, to John Clarence Golmon and Myrtle Melissa Golmon. She was a graduate of Whitworth College in Brookhaven and was retired from the Kellwood Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught the children's class for 20 years. She was involved in the nursing home ministry for 15 years and was active in the Women's Missionary Union. Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lura Golmon, Ima Hoggatt and Ruby Ainsworth; and two brothers, Howell and Leon Golmon. Survivors include her husband, Roscoe P. Newton of Brookhaven; son and daughter- in-law, Lonnie P. and Pat Reed of Brookhaven; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Reed Parker and Henry of Prattville, Ala., Melissa Reed Otten and Dan of Hilltop, Minn., and Betty Morgan of Smithdale; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hollis and Loise Golmon of Monticello and John C. and Betty Golmon of Seminole, Texas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ara A. Golmon of Brookhaven and Aileen and Grover Hoggatt of Bridge City, Texas; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Roscoe P. Newton had the following children:
