He married Grace Gertrude Smith. Grace was born July 9, 1915. Grace was the daughter of Benjamin (Ben) Paxton Smith and Alice Della Allred. Grace died January 11, 2007 in Jackson, Hinds Co, MS. OBIT: Services for Grace G. Smith, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith, 90, died Jan. 11, 2006, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born in Lincoln County on July 19, 1915, to Benjamin Paxton Smith and Alice Allred Smith. She was a homemaker. She was a member of New SalemChurch of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Solon L. Smith; her grandson, James K. Smith; her brothers, Garland Smith, Ben Smith Jr., Hubert Smith and Harold Smith; and her sisters, Lucy Strait and Henrietta Price. Survivors are her son, Benjamin Smith, of Brookhaven; her daughter, Alice Smith and her husband, Jimmy C. Smith, of Brookhaven; her grandson, Jeremy Smith and his wife, Angie, of Brookhaven; her granddaughter, Jennifer Hutton and her husband, Micky, of Brandon; her great-grandchildren, Justin Scott Smith, Justin Kent Smith, Anna Morgan Smith, Jordan Hutton and Josie Hutton.

Solon L. Smith and Grace Gertrude Smith had the following children:
