Sarah died December 1, 2013 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Mrs. Sarah Lee Smith, 93, a resident of Brookhaven, died December 1, 2013 at Golden Living Center-Brook Manor in Brookhaven. She was born in Lincoln County on December 14, 1919 to the late Lawrence A. Smith and Amy Roselyn Smith Smith. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and member of New Salem Church of Christ of Brookhaven.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert B. Smith; four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 5 pm until 8 pm at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez drive location. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at New Salem Church of Christ and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith is survived by one son, Lawrence Mitchell Smith and wife Carolyn of Wesson, MS; two daughters, Amy Roselyn Ratcliff and husband Carroll; Deborah Jane Smith and husband Wayne J. Smith, all of Brookhaven. Mrs. Smith is also survived by one sister, Evelyn Smith; eight grandchildren, Bruce Smith, Brian Smith, Alan Smith, Brad Smith, Lora Hedgepeth, Chris Haley, Pam Walker, and Michelle Bland; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She married Robert B. Smith August 19, 1939. Robert was born November 23, 1918 in Lincoln Co., MS. Robert was the son of Hughley Isom (Buck) Smith and Mollie Smith. Robert died November 21, 2003 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Robert B. Smith of Brookhaven are 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 24, at New Salem Church of Christ with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2-9 p.m., at Brookhaven Funeral Home. Mr. Smith, 84, died Nov. 21, 2003, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 23, 1918, to Molly Smith and Hugh I. "Buck" Smith. He was retired from Southern Wholesale Co. with 44 years of service and later worked at Wayne Smith Greenhouse. He was a member of New Salem Church of Christ and was an Army veteran with service in World War II. Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Ruby Smith Hammill; and his brothers, Elmer Smith, Willie H. Smith, Frank Smith, Hugh Smith, Bracey Smith, and Grover Smith. Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Sarah Lee Smith of Brookhaven; his daughters, Amy Ratcliff and Deborah Jane Smith, both of Brookhaven; his son, Lawrence Mitchell Smith of Wesson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
