Ruby died December 11, 2007 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Ruby Monell Smith Lofton, of Bogue Chitto, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on North Jackson Street with burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Trent Bilbo and Wiley Reid will officiate. Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Friday from 8 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Lofton, 88, died Dec. 11, 2007, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 29, 1919, to Pearlie Smith and Louella Smith Smith. She was a homemaker and worked at Stahl-Urban. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert J. Lofton; her grandson, Clifton Richard Crosby; her granddaughter, Dawn Michelle Lofton; her brothers, Hughlon Smith and Hollis Smith; and her sisters, Ruthie Dunn Smith and Ava Watts. Survivors are her son, Jimmy Lofton and wife, Kay, of Bogue Chitto; her daughter, Delores Crosby and husband, Clifton, of Bogue Chitto; her five grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Steve Crosby, Brad Crosby, Matthew Magee, Johnny Magee, Vince Graces, Jamie Hart and Danny Watts.
She married Robert (Bob) James Lofton. Robert was born June 5, 1917. Robert was the son of Judson N. (Judge) Lofton and Isaphine Ratcliff. Robert died November 25, 1974. Robert buried in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.
