OBIT:: Services for Etta Ruth Smith Burke, of Wesson, are 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Clear Branch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Burke, 73, died Jan. 8, 2010, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 9, 1936, to John Emerson Smith and Mamie Stanley Smith. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; and her sister, Edwina Crouch. Survivors are her husband, Gerald Scott Burke; her sons, Scott Burke and wife, Marie, Chris Burke and wife, Lynn, Brian Burke and wife, Gabe, Kyle Burke and wife, Charissa, and Mark Burke; her daughter, Leslie Burke Smith; her brothers, John Paul Smith and wife, Bessie, and Russell Smith and wife, Jo, of Austin, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She married Gerald Scott Burke July 30, 1955 in Lincoln Co., MO. Gerald was born March 31,1936 in Wesson, Copiah Co, MS. Gerald was the son of David Scott Burke JR and Ella Day. Gerald died December 7, 2021 in Jackson, hinds.
