James died October 3, 2015 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS. OBIT: James Glen (J. Glen) Smith, 74, passed from this life on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at his residence in the Red Star Community. Mr. Smith was born on September 15, 1941 in Lincoln County, MS to James Leroy Smith and Mildred Melissa Kimble Smith.
Visitation will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Red Star Ward) on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 1 PM until 2 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2 PM at the church. Burial will follow the service in the Red Star Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Smith was retired from the oil industry where he worked for 50 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Red Star Ward).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Mattie Lea Smith; daughter Wendy Newell and husband Stacey; sons Ricky Glen Smith and wife Heather, James Roy Smith and wife Heather, and Paul Estus Smith, all of Brookhaven, MS; 10 grandchildren, Lee Newell, Kristen Haire, Karly Wright, Devan Smith, Austin Lea, Eric Smith, Alex Dake, Jack Smith, Tyler Smith and Lauren Smith; 4 great grandchildren; brother Jimmy Lee Smith and wife Connie of Brookhaven, MS.; and his nieces.
James Glenn Smith and Mattie Elaine Lea had the following children:
