Lester died December 26, 2013 in Jackson, HInds Co., MS. OBIT: Lester Sonny Smith, 69, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be 4-7pm Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral services are 2pm Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Sonny’s son-in-law, Rev. Norman Robinson, Jr. will officiate the service along with Rev. Steve Wilson.

Sonny was born in Brookhaven on January 19, 1944 to Nellie S. Smith and Fred L. Smith who was killed in action in WW II in Patton’s Army. Mr. Smith was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church and he loved his family and he put his wife, kids and grandchildren first in life. Sonny was a huge Ole Miss fan.

Survivors include his wife, Janis C. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Toscha M. Robinson (Norman) of Meridian; son and daughter-in-law, Trent L. Smith (Angela Denise) of Brandon; sister, Linda Lee Smith of Brookhaven; five grandchildren, Case Miles, Zach Miles, Kannon Smith, Gabe Miles and Kylee Smith; and one great grandson, Tanner Hayes Miles; nephew, Todd Graham Smith of Pass Christian, MS.
