She married Charles Wayne McKee. Charles was born October 291938 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Charles was the son of Edgar Vernon McKee and Ela Eulalie Burney.. Charles died March 16, 2016 in Jackson, HInds Co., MS. OBIT: Funeral services for Charles Wayne McKee will be on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) at 2 PM with burial to follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, 2016, from 12 PM until 2 PM.
Mr. McKee, 76, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born on October 29, 1939 in Lincoln County, MS, to Edgar Vernon and Ela Burney McKee. He served his country in the US Navy, and his community in the Brookhaven Civitan Club. He worked for many years as a self-employed plumber. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church for over 30 years serving in various capacities including his service as a deacon. He enjoyed fishing and growing vegetables in his garden to share with his neighbors. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Edgar Vernon and Ela Burney McKee; wife, Linda Smith McKee; sisters, Edna McKee Davis, Eula Etta McKee Horton, Mary McKee Ratcliff and Marjarie Sue McKee Walley; and brothers, Bill McKee, Curtis McKee and Johnny Ray McKee.
Survivors are his wife, Lavon Thornhill McKee; daughters, Veronica McKee Richardson and husband Jeff of Brookhaven, MS, and Lisa McKee Hodgson and husband Geoffrey of Brookhaven, MS; sisters, Ruth McKee Crosby and Linda McKee Lee; brother, Alfred McKee; grandchildren, Ashton Richardson, Anna Brooke Richardson, Olivia Hodgson, Lilly Hodgson, Emma Hodgson, William Hodgson, and John Hodgson; and a host of family and friends.
Linda Kay Smith and Charles Wayne McKee had the following children:
