OBIT: Services for Suzanne Montgomery Smith Slaton of Des Allemands, La., are 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Matthews Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Slaton, 54, died Jan. 4, 2002, at West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans. She was born in Lincoln County on May 6, 1947, to James P. Montgomery and Nelva Elise Jordan Montgomery.
She was a nurse.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors are her husband, Bill Slaton of Des Allemands, La.; her son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Kelly Smith of Wesson; her stepson, David Slaton of Jackson; her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey Smith and Tim Edwards of Brookhaven; her stepdaughters, Shannon Flannery of Las Vegas and Kimberly Slaton of Jackson; her brother, Thomas J. Montgomery of Brookhaven; her sister, Cindy Bailey of Kenner, La.; her grandchildren, Ainsley Edwards, Shelby Edwards, Joey Smith, Alexis Flannery and Devin Slaton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She married twice.
