He married Barbara McKay Phelps April 1985. Barbara was born September 6, 1941. Barbara was the daughter of James E Phelpls and Rosa Freda Coker. Barbara died September 17, 2007 in Centralia, Marion Co., IL. OBIT: Barbara McKay Colclasure, 67, of Centralia and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Mt. Vernon on Sept. 6, 1941, a daughter of James E. and Rosa Freda (Coker) Phelps. She married Keith Colclasure in April 1985, and he preceded her in death in August 2000. Barbara was a registered nurse and worked at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital for five years and at Mt. Vernon Township High School for 27 years.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Interment will follow.
There will be no public visitation.
Barbara is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Lane McKay of Mt. Vernon and Bryan McKay of Barstow, Calif.; two daughters, Julianna McKay Barley and husband Joseph of Frankfort, Ky., and Valerie McKay of Sarasota, Fla.; and grandchildren, Jed Barley, Lindsey Barley, Amanda McKay, Amber McKay, Bryan McKay Jr., and Tristin James McKay Bird.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Mrs. Colcasure was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
