Neil died July 18, 2010 in Normal, McLean Co., IL. OBIT: Neil R. Myers, 83, of Normal, formerly of Decatur, left this life to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:15 AM Sunday July 18, 2010 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Dawson & Wikoff North Funeral Home, Highway 51, Decatur with Rev. James Bosler officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday July 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Monticello Cemetery in Monticello, IL. Condolences may be sent to the family via email at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Mr. Myers was born on February 18, 1927 in Macon, a son of Raymond and Juanita Cole Myers. He married Mae (Maisie) Nixon on March 1, 1945 and she preceded Neil in death on December 31, 1993. Surviving are his sons, Jeffrey Lynn (Connie) Myers of Spokane Washington, and Scott Neil (Audrey) Myers of Bloomington, one daughter, Melodie Kay Liddle of Holton, IN.; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Jerry (Bea) Myers of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Richard and son Douglas. Neil proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a radioman on board the USS Merrimac in the Pacific. He retired in 1993 as Vice-President and Director of Store Planning and Visual Merchandising from Robeson's Department Store in Champaign, Illinois. He was an active member of the Temple Baptist Church in Decatur, serving as a greeter. His favorite times were dancing with long time friend Eileen LaDue, and spending time with his family.
He married Lula Mae (Maisie) Nixon March 1, 1945.
