Marjorie died October 21, 2010 in Boone, Boone Co., IA. OBIT: Marjorie M. Moffitt, 88, of 128 Linn Street in Boone, Iowa passed away at the Boone County Hospital on Thursday morning, October 21, 2010.
Following Marge's wishes, her body has been cremated and a private graveside service with interment to follow will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery with Father Steve Brodersen officiating.
There will be no visitation or calling hours.
She married Joseph Bernard Moffitt JR March 8, 1944 in Fort Hood, TX. Joseph was born October 10, 1917 in Evanston, Cook Co., IL. Joseph was the son of Joseph Bernard Moffitt and Mary Fitzgerald. Joseph died February 27, 2013 in Boone, Boone Co., IA. OBIT: Joseph Bernard Moffitt was born on December 10, 1917 to John B. and Mary (Fitzgerald) Moffitt in Evanston, Illinois. He passed away at the age of 95, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Westhaven Community in Boone where he had resided since December 2009. Joe was a veteran of World War II and Korea and was a CWO-3 in the U.S. Army with his retirement in 1962. He met his wife Marjorie, at Fort Hood, Texas where they both were stationed and was married there on March 8, 1944. After retiring from the service, Joe and Marge moved back to Boone, where he took a position as an Automobile Salesman with Moffitts, Inc. He worked there until his retirement in 1986. Joe was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion of Boone. Joe enjoyed fishing and spending time with his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marge; his two brothers, Edward and Vincent, and his sister, Mary. Joe is survived by three children, Jo Eileen (William) Newbold; Mari Hutchinson, John (Linda) Moffitt; his sister, Barbara Johnson of Arizona; his seven grandchildren; his nine great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Marge Hammond; his brother-in-law, Robert (Ardith) Hammond and several nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone at a later date in the Spring or early Summer. There will be Military Honors with presentation of the United States Flag by the Boone Veterans Council following the graveside service.
