George died December 18, 2009 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. OBIT: George L. Dyer Jr., 76, of Beardstown died Friday (Dec. 18, 2009) at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He is survived by his wife, Delores Dyer, Beardstown; two sons, Jeff (Marilu) Dyer, Bremerton, Washington and Tracy (Amy) Dyer, Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Dianna (David) Renfrow, Atlanta; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Anita (Troy) Randall, Henry; Delores (Jason) Schreieck, Beardstown; James (Linda) Barajas, Henry; Ladonna (Walt) Walden, Meredosia and Phillip (Penny) Barajas, Jacksonville; numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne (Margaret) Dyer, Beardstown; Mike (Janice) Dyer, New York and Larry Dyer, Elkhart, Indiana and one sister, Ida Mae Dyer of Florida. Burial was in the Beardstown City Cemetery.
He married twice. He married Shelba June Spoon. Shelba was born May 25, 1939 in Beardstown, Cass Co., IL. Shelba was the daughter of Herman Woodrow Spoon and Opal Virginia Wells. Shelba died June 1, 2012 in Beardstown, Cass Co., IL. OBIT: On Friday, June 1, 2012, Jesus escorted Shelba June Spoon Dyer to the mansion He had prepared for her. She was born May 25, 1939, to Herman W. Spoon Sr. and Opal Virginia Wells Spoon, in Virginia. She lived most of her life in Beardstown. Surviving are her children, Jeffrey Dyer, wife Marilou of Bremerton, Wash., Dianna Renfrow, husband David, of Atlanta, Ill., and Tracy, wife Amy, of Mount Pulaski. Her grandchildren are Maria and Jason Dyer of Bremerton, Wash., Joshua, Nathaniel and Andrew Dyer of Mount Pulaski, Jessica Snow of Lincoln, Jericho Johnson of Tifton, Ga., and AJ Renfrow, of Peoria. Her great-grandchildren are Devyn, Aydyn and Klaytyn Snow, Jace Johnson and Alexis Renfrow. Surviving siblings include Sharon Spillers, husband Fred of Beardstown, Marilyn McNeil, husband David, of League City, Texas, Bonnie O'Hara, husband Mike, of Tifton, Ga., Janet Petersen, husband Bill, of Beardstown, Raymond Spoon, wife Susan, of Fowler, and Dean Spoon, wife Mary, of El Dorado, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, Lee Bietsch (surviving husband, Al of Beardstown) and Herman "Woodie" Spoon (surviving wife, Teri of Albany, Ga.). Shelba was secretary of First Christian Church in Beardstown for 35 years before her retirement in 2010. She was a charter member of FCC. She was a dedicated servant of Christ. She loved making noodles for family and friends to share her love for them and to show her joy in serving Jesus. She lived her life so that all who come behind her find her faithful. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. today at First Christian Church in Beardstown. Memorials have been suggested to Beardstown Christian Academy.
