William died June 8, 2011 in Goodyear, AZ. OBIT:William "Bill" G. Cupit, 78, died Nov. 3, 2011, at his home in Goodyear.
Mr. Cupit was born Oct. 19, 1933, in
Beaumont, Texas. He attended Beaumont High School, Lamar University and received his master's degree at Stephen F. Austin University. He married his college sweetheart, Charla Mouton, in 1955 and they raised three children. He moved his family to Hawaii in 1965.
He was a teacher, counselor and vice principal at various schools in Texas, Guam and Hawaii. He retired after 21 years as principal of Barbers Point Elementary in Hawaii.
In 1986, he was honored as the National Distinguished Principal of Hawaii. In 1990, he retired to Arizona, and moved to the PebbleCreek community in Goodyear.
He is survived by his wife, Charla; two daughters, Syndie and Denise; one son, Johnny; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy and Kathy; and two brothers, Billy and Pat.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Road in Avondale.
He married Charla Mouton 1955.
