Obit of Rosa Newsome published on November 25, 1926: After an illness of about a year of a complication of diseases, Mrs Rosa Newsome, 49 years old, died Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the family residence at 903 Fourteenth Avenue, Phenix, City. Besides her husband, Joe T. Newsome,she is survived by five sons, Olen Newsome, Robert Newsome, Herbert Newsome, Owen Newsome and Reuben Newsome, all of Phenix City: sseven daughters, Mrs Myrtle Meredith, Mrs Lucille Jackson, Mrs Jossie Durden, Mrs Wilma Simmons, Miss Zera Newsome, Miss Agnes Newsome and Miss Violet Newsome, all of Phenix City: two sisters, Mrs Mattie Lewis, Riverview, Ala and Miss Mamie Wyatt of Columbus, Ga. Funeral Services were Held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2:00, conducted by Rev W. E. Carter, pastor of the Congregational Church of Phenix City; following which was interment in the Newsome Cemetery 3 miles west of Phenix City. The services were attended by many sorrowing friends of the family who deeply deplore the untimely death of the deceased. Rosa is buried at the Newsome Cemetery, Phenix City, AL
