Mrs Violet Irene Stringfellow, 87, of Phenix City, AL died Sunday, January 7, 2001 at Phenix Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Golden Acres Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at 4:00 pm with the Reverend Thomas Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Newsome Cemetery according to Colonial Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Visitation will be this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mrs Stringfellow was born January 8, 1913 in Phenix City, Al, the daughter of late Joseph Newsome. She was a homemaker and a member of Golden Acres Assembly of God Church in Phenix City. She was preed in death by her husband George Stringfellow. Suviors include two daughters, Shirley Busby, Phenix City, Al, Nina Girard, Las Vegas, NV; three sons, George Earl Stringfellow and daughter in law Josiephine, Columbus, Ga, Joseph Stringfellow and William Stringfellow, both of Phenix City, Al; one sister, Wilma Whiddon, Columbus, GA; one brother Benjamin Owen Newsome, Columbus, Ga; eleven grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren, ten great-great-great grandchildren.
She married George Anderson Stringfellow November 19, 1932. George was born November 8, 1910. George died November 10, 1984 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. George is buried at the Newsome Cemetery, Phenix City, AL
