AR March 26, 1920. Opal died June 25, 2007 in Bloomington, Monroe Co., IN. OBIT: Opal Belle McBride, 87, of Bloomington, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007, at her residence. Born, March 26, 1920, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Abe H. and Lora (Allgood) Hess. Opal was a pastry cook at Indiana University, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and she enjoyed quilting. Survivors include two sons, Vernon McBride and his wife, Louise, and George Wayne McBride and his wife, Tootsie, all of Bloomington; two daughters, Betty Barber of Leavenworth, KS, and Phyllis K. Self and her husband, Butch, of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert McBride (1985) and two sisters, Mildred Chambers, and Zella Hacker. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the Allen Funeral Home, with Hollis Johnson officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

She married Herbert McBride September 18,1937 in Wynne Co., AR. Herbert was born August 6, 1911. Herbert was the son of George Wesley McBride and Ella Roselie Burton. Herbert died December 2, 1984 in Bloomington, Monroe Co., IN.

Opal Belle Hess and Herbert McBride had the following children:
