He married Leona Irene Richardson November 26, 1955 in Assumption, Christian Co., IL. Leona was born Ocstober 1o, 1920 in Carbondale, Jackson Co., IL. Leona was the daughter of Leo Richardson and Vallie Purdy. Leona died August 5, 2010 in Pana, Christian Co., IL. OBIT: Leona Irene DeLong, 89, of Assumption passed away August 5, 2010 in Prairie Rose Health Care Center.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in St. Mary's Church, Assumption with Fr. Don Wolford officiating with inurnment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Leona was born October 10, 1920, the daughter of Leo and Vallie (Purdy) Richardson in Carbondale, Illinois.
She married Leland D. DeLong in Assumption on November 26, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2007.
Leona was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Assumption, and St. Mary's Altar Society. She worked in a garment factory and later owned and operated a beauty shop.
Surviving Leona are her brother Edgar, and wife Adaline Richardson of San Antonio, TX and cousin Norman, and wife Jerri Bethard of Assumption, Illinois.
11521 ii. George Elwin DeLong was born in Sailor Springs, Clay Co., IL May 6, 1919. George died August 22, 1996 in Taylorville, Christian Co., IL. He married twice. He married Mary Jean Johnson. He married Mary Jean Crezee January 23, 1944 in Hayes, Ellis Co., KS. Mary was born January 20, 1924 in Ogden, Weber Co., UT. Mary died January 13, 2000 in Ogden, Weber Co, UT.
