The Edward Algood Family


4128. Edward Freanklin9 DeLong (Florence Evelyn (Eva)8 Allgood, James E.7, James6, William (Pikey) Henry5, William John4, Edward3, William2, Edward1 Algood) was born January 14, 1895. Edward died February 1964. OBIT: Edward Frank DeLong, 68, of 456 S. Ave. B, a lifetime resident of Canton, died at 2:55 a.m. Thursday in Graham Hospital, about one-half hour after admittance.

He was a veteran of World War I, having been a master sergeant in the Army. He was a member of Orlando Crowther Post, American Legion. For several years he was a mechanic and operated a garage in Canton. Later he worked 17 years at International Havester Co., retiring four years ago. He was an honorary member of Local 1357 UAW-CIO.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Murphy Memorial Home by the Rev. Orville Wright, pastor of First Christian Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. DeLong was born Jan. 14, 1894, in Canton, a son of Edward F. and Martha Lukey DeLong. He was married Nov. 11, 1919 in Canton to Eunice Conrad, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Arlene Spencer, Mrs. Marilyn Whitaker and Mrs. Barbara Danner, and one son, Donald DeLong, all of Canton; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Arnett, of Chicago. One sister preceded in death.

He married Eunice Audey Conrad November 11,1919 in Canton, Fulton Co., IL. Eunice was born November 16, 1898 in Canton, Fulton Co., IL. Eunice was the daughter of Elias Contrad and Clara Palmerton. Eunice died September 9, 1978 in Canton, Fulton Co., IL. OBIT: Eunice A. DeLong, 79, of 456 S. Avenue B, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in Graham Hospital.

Born Nov. 16, 1898, at Canton, she was a daughter of Elias and Clara (Palmerton) Conrad. She married Edward Frank DeLong Nov. 11, 1919, at Canton. He died Feb. 6, 1964.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Arlene Spencer, Mrs. Marilyn Whitaker and Mrs. Barbara Danner all of Canton; a son, Donald of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Flynn and Mrs. Melba Shaw, both of Canton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One brother preceded her in death.

Mrs. DeLong was a member of the First Christian Church. She was formerly employed by Canton Manufacturing Company as a machine operator.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, with Rev. Darrell Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
