Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Leggett, 90, died April 8, 2005, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. She was born in Lincoln County on April 24, 1914, to Richard Ratcliff and Ida Smith Ratcliff.
She was a retired garment factory worker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Brookhaven branch.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, R.G. Dunn and Eugene Leggett; four brothers, Rance, Carlos, Sydney, and Alaby Ratcliff; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Ratcliff and Donis Ratcliff; her brother-in-law, Clyde Ward; and a great-grandson, James Michael Brent.
Survivors are her daughter, Joyce Dunn Brent, of Hattiesburg; her son, James Edward Dunn, of Knoxville, Tenn.; her sister, Nellie Ward, of Brookhaven; her brothers and sister-in-law, Percy and Gertie Ratcliff, and Versie Ratcliff, all of Brookhaven; her sisters-in-law, Ovelia Ratcliff and Mavis Ratcliff, both of Brookhaven; four grandchildren, Debbie McLemore, of Wesson, and Jeff, Mitch and Randy Brent, all of Hattiesburg; nine great-grandchildren, Kristin McLemore, Kayla McLemore, Kimberly McLemore, Ross Brent, Davis Brent, Jeffrey Brent, Chadly Brent, Jonathan Brent and Ansley Brent; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She married three times. She married Eugene Robert Leggett. Eugene was born December 29, 1920 in Bogue Chitto, Lincoln Co., MS. Eugene was the son of Eugene Howard Leggett and Sarah Revella (Sally) Porter. Eugene died August 31, 2002 in Hattisburg, Forrest Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Eugene Robert Leggett of Sumrall, and formerly of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Red Star Ward Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Leggett, 71, died Aug. 31, 2002, at Forrest General Hospital. He was born on Dec. 29, 1930, to Tobe Leggett and Sally Porter Leggett. He was a retired project inspector for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a veteran of WWII. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Judge, J.W., and Talmadge Leggett; his sister, Minnie Bell Nations; and his son, Glen Leggett. Survivors are his wife, Beatrice Ratcliff Dunn Leggett of Sumrall; his son, Eugene Chester Leggett of Salt Lake City, Utah; his stepdaughter, Joyce Dunn Brent of Hattiesburg; his stepson, James Edward Dunn of Knoxville, Tenn.; and one grandson, several great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
She married (___) Ward. She married Ross Griffin Dunn March 2,1946 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS. Ross was born May 16, 1914 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Ross was the son of Ross Alexander Dunn and Beulah May Prine. Ross died March 26, 1978 in Copiah, MS.
