Mary died October 23, 2013 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Mrs. Calcote will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00am at New Hope United Methodist Church with interment in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00am prior to the service at the church.

Mary Bernice Smith Calcote passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in the Loyd Star Community in Brookhaven MS. She was born on November 17, 1915 to Granberry Smith and Eula Smith Smith. She was a lifelong resident of the Loyd Star Community. Mrs. Calcote was a homemaker and a devoted lifelong member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and of the quilters. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, fishing, preparing meals for her family and watching over her cows. She was a member of the LLL club and Lincoln County Homemakers Club. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death was her husband of 47 years, Cade Vernon Calcote; parents, Granberry and Eula Smith; daughters, Virginia Ray Calcote, Mary Janice Smith Satterfield, Flora Jean Byrd; Grandson, Jason Michael Calcote; Sisters, Helen Robin and Winnie Smith; and brother, Ed Smith. Survivors Include her children, Chester Calcote and wife Cheryl of Zachary, LA; Charles Calcote and wife Cathy; Cade Michael Calcote and wife Cheryl both of Brookhaven; and Linda Fay Seymour and husband Gerald of Ocean Springs. She is also survived by two brothers, Hoyt Smith and Dewey Smith; 14 grandchildren; Mignonne Ramagos and husband Henry, Leigh Reed and husband Lee, Barry Calcote and wife Lisa, Darlene Harveston, Lisa Wilson and husband Brad, Brian Calcote and wife Larisa, Chad Calcote, Kevin Byrd and Carla, Karl Byrd and wife Dana, Karen Case and husband Jason, Michelle Fore and husband Lee, Melissa Stork and husband Skip, Sonia York, Shelley Cochran and husband Curtis along with 30 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend much gratitude to very special caregivers: Vicki McCullough, Letha Nevels, Fran Lea, Margaret Rushing; Nurses Jenny Jo Pepper, Tammy Blackmon and Hospice Ministries and to Dr. Bryan Calcote.

She married Cade Vernon Calcote. Cade was born September 14, 1917 in Lincoln Co., MS. Cade died September 18, 1983 in Wesson, Copiah Co, MS. Cade was buried in New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.

Mary Bernice Smith and Cade Vernon Calcote had the following children:
