Bessie died March 24, 2009 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Bessie C. Smith, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith, 94, died March 24, 2009, at her residence. She was born on Nov. 16, 1914, to Hiram Augusta Case and Betty Jane Smith.
She was retired assembler from the Potter Co. She was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Union.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jeffie Oscar Smith; a son, Reggie K. Smith; her daughters, Will Ann Fugler and Gay Smith; her son-in-law, Robert Fugler; her siblings, Ruth Case, Gladys Allgood, Jessie Arrington, Isom Carl Case, Clara V. Ballard, James Case, Ada Pearl Evans and Gussie Smith.
Survivors are a son-in-law, Donald Smith; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Smith; her six grandchildren, Jeff Smith and wife, Rose, Eric Smith and wife, Mary-Beth, Les Smith, Bobby Fugler, Brian Fugler, Deanna Smith and husband, Mitchell; her seven great-grandchildren, Brooks Smith and wife, Kyndal, Jeffie-Blake Smith, Jeremy DeDeaux and wife, Bridget, Lindy Smith, Lauren Smith, Allison Smith and Andrew Smith; and her five great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Smith, Kayleigh Smith, Aubrey Boman, Stoney DeDeaux and Lansley Grace DeDeaux.
She married Jeffery (Jeffie) Oscar Smith. Jeffery was born February 10, 1914 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Jeffery was the son of Jefferson W. Smith and Hettie L. Britt. Jeffery died July 10, 1951 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Jeffery and Bessie were was buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.
Bessie P. Case and Jeffery (Jeffie) Oscar Smith had the following children:
