She married Grafton Charles Smith October 6, 1940. Grafton was born June 2, 1910 in MS. Grafton was the son of Thomas Elzeberry (Nong) Smith and Josie Ella Griffin. Grafton died July 17, 1970 in Lincoln Co., MS. Grafton and Dorothy were buried in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.

OBIT; Jonah Ripley "Uncle Rip" Smith, 56, of Bogue Chitto, died Jan. 5, 2007, at his residence. Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Brookhaven Funeral Home, NatchezAvenue location, in Brookhaven. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mike Smith and Jay Culbertson will officiate. Burial will be in the Highway 84 Church of Christ Cemetery in Brookhaven. Mr. Smith was born Sept. 14, 1950, in Lincoln County. He was the son of the late Grafton C. Smith and the late Dorothy N. Smith. He worked for Yellow Freight Trucking Co. for 18 years. He was a member of Highway 84 Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Nelda Smith of Bogue Chitto; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glynn C. and Sue Smith of Brookhaven, and Jimmy C. and Cindy Smith of Harrison, Ark.; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy C. and Kenneth Case of Brookhaven, Joy S. and Richard Nichols of Birmingham, Ala.,CaronSmith and Dwight of Clever, Mo., and Donna S. Jones andSteven of Byram; mother-in-law, Catherine Stricklin of Brookhaven; a special uncle, Allen Smith; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Lavonne Brumfield and Charles, and JoAnn Herrington and Ray, all of Brookhaven, and Judy Bowman and Jerry "Bo" of Hattiesburg; special friends, Kirby Case, Claude Perrett and Laverne Lea; 21 nieces and nephews; and 38 great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kennon Case, Kelby Case, Korey Case, Steven Brumfield, Dave Griffin, Keith Cline and Casey Carter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highway 84 Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
